It isn’t a birthday without a chocolate cake, and trust me, this one’s a winner.
This amazing recipe can be found in Make, Bake & Celebrate by food stylist and recipe writer, Annie Rigg.
I love her books.
The photography and food styling are always on point!
The recipes are easy to follow and I love how it’s got a basic recipe section. Every cake is typically a variation of a basic recipe anyways!
If you’re interested in making macarons, her Macarons book is another great one to have in your collection too.
As you can tell, I tweaked the decor slightly. Not because I didn’t like Annie’s, but because I had to carry it in a cake tin.
Those caramel hazelnuts would have snapped after a bus AND train journey!
I’ve got to be honest, the only tricky part to this recipe are the caramel hazelnuts.
My advice? Practice, practice, practice.
Don’t be afraid to take it to a dark amber. It’ll coat the hazelnuts better.
Go on.. grab a copy of the book and impress your friends with your next bake!
Wow those hazelnuts look so impressive, I must try them!
