So here we are in the final day of the year. Was 2015 one to celebrate or one to forget?
This year has brought me through an array of emotions with an amazing opportunity to embark on a Masters degree in a career field that I believe I’ll truly excel in and embrace wholeheartedly. I’ve had the year to reflect and be proud of my achievements; both personally and professionally, no matter the size!
I hear you scribbling away at your new years resolution for 2016. But first, let’s ask ourselves of a few questions..
Did you have fun this year?
I’m glad you did, so let’s make sure you have more fun in 2016!
Did you take risks?
No- why not? If yes, awesome- keep doing so! The more times you step outside your comfort zone, the easier it’ll be. With risks also come opportunities.
How did you handle yourself in tough times?
We’ve all had our fair share of challenges this year. Be proud of how you’ve overcome these events- Learn, grow and appreciate. Recognise and enhance your personal strengths. Be more authentic because of this.
Have you developed healthy habits?
And no, I’m not talking about getting yourself to the gym or eating your broccoli. It’s much more than that. Are you listening more and judging less? Are you more forgiving? kind? grateful?
Did you learn something new about yourself?
I’m pretty sure you have! Good or bad, this is now something you can focus on to either improve or diminish.
Most importantly, practice self-compassion.
Be kind to yourself. Be mindful. Embrace common humanity.
Now that I’m one year older (and hopefully wiser), I’ll definitely be adding another item to my list of 24 things I’ve learnt in 24 years.
